Happy day!

This is going to be a little rickety for my first blog post ever! As a teacher I have been told by countless professionals that blogging is something I should integrate into my daily practices. Yet, three years after my first day in the classroom… this is my first post.

Yes, I am starting out with my teaching brain. It is because that is first nature to me. I will work on that and become less “teachery” as the posts come.

My journey started with running (this time) with a simple healthy conversation with Mike. Mike is my other half. We were discussing the icky feeling that we were having from being less active and eating foods our bodies didn’t enjoy. I didn’t believe that we would be 2 months later still eating healthy and getting closer to running a 5k. But, here we are today. I have became more positive, happy and feel like there are more hours in the day! Imagine that, I do MORE with my days and I feel like there is MORE time. Sounds like such a weird concept. However, it is working!

Things that are helping me get through…

HungryRunnerGirl… she is so down to earth and inspiring!

These crazy cool water bottles S’Well! Have you heard of them? … if you haven’t checked them out yet… click HERE! I love them because they are pretty, keep my water cold… really they do, and it is a challenge for me to keep filling it when it becomes empty. I have been able to average 80 oz of water a day thanks to these lovely bottles!

Music, music, music! I am currently having Mike’s younger brother create more songs for me. He is pretty talented! Music really allows me to stop having my head talk me out of the running, and focus on the “I can” of it all.

Knowing that everyday is going to be different. I get easily discouraged about my own success. I am easy to think I shouldn’t keep going. However, reminding myself that there is a high in completing my run, no matter how long… fast or easy it was!

Positive quotes, they are my POWER!

Tell me about the things that keep you going….

Why did you become a runner?

  1. Every run can teach you something, if you tune in you will really learn more about yourself when running then any other time. You test yourself, you push yourself and you get stronger from it. I love to think of every run as an adventure and you never know how you’ll feel at the end of it, or what you’ll experience along the way.

  2. I had never run until recently (I’m in my 50s). Was advised not too but while training to trek to Everest Base Camp the sport physio who I went to about strengthening my knees suggested I was walking at quite a fast speed and that I should consider jogging. I was horrified by the idea but started using the Couch to 5K app and actually started to enjoy it. Overdid a bit sometimes but seem to manage. I stopped for while with our trek training because I didn’t want to injure myself.
I did three Sri Chinmoy runs which were great and good short term goals to work towards. Check their webiste to see if they run them near you.
My husband AKA the Trainer in my blog motivates me. My MP3 player keeps me going…

    1. I looked up your suggestion of Sri Chinmoy races! Unfortunately they are only in big cities. I live in a tiny town in Ohio. Maybe once I am ready for a big race… I can plan a trip. Thank you for your suggestion!
Keep in touch! I am so happy you commented on my blog. ๐Ÿ™‚
